TRUE PEACE: THE PRESENCE OF JUSTICE

September 19, 2019 - May 31, 2020

"In 1915 Jane Addams founded the American Women's Peace Party to oppose World War I, which became the Women's International league for Peace and Freedom (WILPF). Over 1500 women traveled to the Hogue to demand peaceful resolutions and just alternatives to war. Jane Addams Hull-House Museum's exhibition True Peace: The Presence of Justice explores the legacy of WIILPF and a decade of leadership and community organizing in Chicago led by queer communities and women of color. Featuring contemporary activists and artists. Monica Trinidad and Sarah-Ji, this exhibition reflects on the significance of activist efforts in Chicago today."

WHY WOMEN SHOULD VOTE

September 19, 2019 - May 31, 2020

"Based on a 1910 essay written by Jane Addams, Jane Addams Hull-House Museum's exhibition Why Women Should Vote explores the widespread grassroots national movement organized by American women who demand the right to vote and to be recognized as full citizens in the United States. As we approach the 2020 Centennial of the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution and move closer to the 2020 presidential election, Why Women Should Vote reflects on questions of women's leadership, electoral power, voice, racism within the women's movements and women's power to impact civic affairs."
